Challenge

Management and control of streetlight system is a labor-intensive high-cost task for public facility operations. Traditional city streetlight is controlled by wired method, which results in higher installation cost and more complicated maintenance labor.

 

Solution

 

Helicomm's wireless streetlight control solution provides an opportunity of innovations in this traditional industry. The system consists of the PLC, MA8 series products and the control center. Once the request is sent from control center to each MA8 via GPRS, MA8 will transfer the request to PLC through RS485 mode reliable serial data streams. Then the PLC will fulfill the request and control the streetlight. If any of the streetlight in abnormal status, the PLC on each streetlight will send alarm signal back to control center, control center will be able to monitor and control all streetlight in real time. The system application in streetlight can extend control scope to each lamp, reduce in streetlight electricity and maintenance cost, and increase availability of streetlight.
